Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is usually performed with no or very little oil.
There are two styles, direct and indirect. Direct is used by applying slow and sustained pressure into areas of tension of the fascial system making it melt and soften. Indirect is performed by creating tension and allowing the body to express and unwind itself, allowing the body to lead the way.
Fascia is connective tissue which envelops every part of the body, the muscles, the nerves, the organs - everything! When a restriction is found in one part of the fascial system it has a knock on effect throughout the body causing issues in areas seemingly unrelated.
I usually start the treatment with some myofascial release and then interweave direct work throughout the massage.
